Many have lived in China for as long or longer than I have and also have some of the same experiences: close ties in the community, business contacts, family (my 2 daughters were born in Wuhan & Tianjin), surgery (first foreigner to have surgery at the #4 Hospital) and extensive hospital stays and medical treatment. I also experienced the Chinese legal system through employment contract disputes, a child custody case (which I won, against all odds – the first online hearing in Inner Mongolia), and through being caught up in an immigration sweep, a case of wrongly being charged with being in China illegally, and a child kidnapping case that covered three cities. I lived in 4 cities from the start of the pandemic to the lifting of restrictions. (Did I mention the terrorist and the spy (ok, he was trying to become a spy). My career and time in China was fun, interesting, educational, and crazy.

Today, I import items from China and lecture on China, in addition to providing business services.

It is my education and teaching background, along with a unique combination of experiences that bring understanding and proper perspective.

For ten years, I published the This Is My China blog. Upon returning to the USA and expanding the blog into other areas, my websites were attacked by a Russian hacking group. I changed names and am working on restoring the old articles. In the meantime, I am starting over here. Visit regularly for comments on events and situations.

Prior to living and teaching in China, I served as a Precinct Committeeman for two County Political Parties, Chairman of the Audit & Budget Committee for one, ran for City Council, and served as a Campaign Treasurer and Advisor. I wrote a series of articles on Cybersecurity & Terrorism for eForensics Magazine and took training as an Ethical Hacker and in OpenSource Intelligence (OSINT).
